Part I: Money Saving Tips From Brides

Tia and Carlos got married after 2.5 years of dating. At first Tia wasn't as concerned as Carlos about the cost of the wedding, but, after seeing how much a wedding can cost, Tia quickly agreed with Carlos that they needed to set a budget and stick to it.

"We were determined not to take out loans or use credit cards to pay for anything and...we've managed to do just that," Tia said.

Tia put together the following list of ways that she and Carlos managed to cut costs and stay within their $15,000 budget:

1. Found a hotel that offered great rates for our reception (Holiday Inn Select - Peachtree Corners)



2. Found a baker that works out of her home to do my cake (Cakes By Sophronia)



3. Ordered my shoes off the web (in stores, my shoes cost $104 + tax...online, same shoes cost me $84 no tax or shipping charges)



4. Got my dress from David's Bridal



5. Making my own floral arrangements and decorations



6. Purchased bridesmaid gifts (their jewelry) from "Sassy South" (Atlanta Apparel Mart)



7. Ordered wedding favors off the web



8. Ordered invitations off the web (Willow Tree Lane)



9. Found a photographer (KreativTouch Photography) and videographer (MJC Videography) that work out of their home. Got GREAT packages with both and haven't sacrificed the quality of work with either. Both had excellent samples of their work to show. Especially my videographer. Because they work out of their homes, their overhead is extremely low giving the opportunity to pass on the savings to their customers.
